About the speaker

Narissa Turner, Trainer and Facilitator, Habitus Inc., former campaign and policy manager

Narissa is a facilitator and trainer at Habitus Inc. Prior to her work at Habitus, she worked in climate policy and advocacy, developing multiple statewide coordinated campaigns to advance clean energy Her expertise includes climate and environmental justice policy; creating and implementing specialized policy campaign plans; facilitating large multi-stakeholder discussions; issue briefings; press conferences; opinion-editorials; special events; and public education and outreach events. Narissa holds a B.S. in Natural Resources and Recreational Tourism from the University of Georgia, and an M.A. in Climate and Society from Columbia University. She was proud to be an inaugural fellow of the Habitus and CBI Fellowship in Negotiation, Mediation, and Conflict Resolution.


About the course

Collaborative Negotiation for Climate Action

The course, offered in partnership with Habitus Inc., explores the pivotal role that effective negotiation plays in driving climate advocacy and action. You’ll delve into the five negotiation styles, identify your preferred style, and assess your existing strengths and weaknesses as a negotiator. Equipped with this knowledge, you’ll learn to master the core elements of collaborative negotiation through a climate lens and use them to find undiscovered value for both you and your counterpart.

About the Speaker

Genevieve Guenther is the founding director of End Climate Silence and the author of The Language of Climate Politics: Fossil-Fuel Propaganda and How to Fight It. Dr. Guenther advises NGOs, corporations, and policymakers on fossil-fuel disinformation and climate communication, and she serves as Expert Reviewer for the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Her research has appeared in both scholarly journals and media outlets such as Scientific American, The New Republic, and MSNBC, and she has been invited to speak about climate and language to audiences at Duke, Columbia, and Harvard, among other universities.
